Phillies' First-Round Pick Dante Nori Shares Special Bond with Kyle Schwarber (83 อ่าน)

24 พ.ค. 2568 13:45

PHILADELPHIA Shortly after being chosen as the 27th overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft by the Phillies, Dante Nori received a heartfelt message. It was from none other than Kyle Schwarber.

Nori, a 19-year-old outfielder from Northville High School in Michigan, and Schwarber have shared a long history. Their connection dates back to 2012, when Schwarber was a freshman at Indiana University. At the time, Nori, who had just wrapped up his senior year of high school, was only seven or eight years old. Noris grandfather, Fred, served as the assistant baseball coach at Indiana and played a role in recruiting Schwarber.

Nori vividly remembers the moments he shared with Schwarber back then, including playing catch with the future Phillies slugger on the field in Bloomington https://www.philliesplayerfanstore.com/custom-3, Indiana, while wearing an oversized uniform.

"It's funny to think that both of us will be in the same organization soon, " Nori shared in an interview. He is expected to sign with the Phillies and forgo his commitment to Mississippi State, heading to Clearwater, Florida to join the teams developmental system.

The Phillies are eager to bring Nori aboard, as they believe he has the potential to be a dynamic leadoff hitter with the ability to drive line drives across the field. Scouts have praised his strong plate discipline and ability to get on base, where he can be a disruptive force on the basepaths.

"He's the type of guy who plays the game like Lenny Dykstra, " said Northvilles baseball coach, Dan Cimini. "The way he approaches the game, the way he works, it's all about winning. Hes going to push himself to be the best every single day." Nori, who played a key role in Northvilles first state championship victory in the schools history, is known for his relentless work ethic and commitment to improvement.

Being around elite athletes has been a defining aspect of Noris upbringing. His father, Micah, is a long-time NBA assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves. As a result, Nori grew up in close contact with NBA stars like Anthony Edwards, Vince Carter, and DeMarcus Cousins, among others.

"Watching Anthony Edwards has really inspired me, " Nori explained. "Id get to the gym at 6:30 a.m. to work out, and Edwards was already there https://www.philliesplayerfanstore.com, putting in the work. Seeing his dedication has had a big impact on me."

Noris drive to improve extends beyond the field. Hes always honing his skills, whether its hitting, lifting weights, or focusing on other areas of his game. If its not going to help me, I dont do it, Nori said. I believe that if you put in the extra work when others arent, youll be ahead of them."

Noris dedication is clear. Its that same commitment that has helped him reach this point, and hes excited to bring that same level of passion and focus to the Phillies.
